Effects of Potassium Currents upon Action Potential of Cardiac Cells Exposed to External Electric fields
نویسندگان
چکیده
⎯Previous studies show that exposure to high-voltage electric fields would influence the electrocardiogram both in experimental animals and human beings. The effects of the external electric fields upon action potential of cardiac cells are studied in this paper based on the dynamical model, LR91. Fourthorder Runger-Kuta is used to analyze the change of potassium ion channels exposed to external electric fields in detail. Results indicate that external electric fields could influence the current of potassium ion by adding an induced component voltage on membrane. This phenomenon might be one of the reasons of heart rate anomaly under the high-voltage electric fields. Index Terms⎯Electrocardiogram, high-voltage electric fields, potassium ions, Runger-Kuta.

The Different Mechanisms of Action Potential Propagation in the Heart
It was thought previously that cardiac muscle gap junctions provide low-resistance connections between cells and permit the local-circuit current to flow. Some evidences show that myocardial cells may not require low-resistance connections for successful propagation of the action potential (AP). It seems that some other types of mechanisms must be involved in AP propagation. In this article, we...

متن کاملEffects of ionic parameters on behavior of a skeletal muscle fiber model
All living cells have a membrane which separates inside the cell from it's outside. There is a potential difference between inside and outside of the cell. This potential difference will change during an action potential. It is quite common to peruse action potentials of skeletal muscle fibers with the Hodgkin-Huxley model. Since Hodgkin and Huxley summarized some controlling currents like inwa...
متن کاملThe Blocking Activity of Different Toxins against Potassium Channels Kv3.4 in RLE Cells
Background: K+ channel toxins are essential tools for the first purifications, analysis of subunit structures and brain localization of voltage-gated K+ (Kv) channels. The effects of a lot of toxins on Kv are not fully known. Methods: Using whole-cell patch clamping technique the action of a series of toxins on Kv3.4 current in rat liver cells with expressed Kv3.4 channels (RLE) cloned cells wa...
